I worked alongside Ian as Inspector in Hambleton and then I handed over to him when I was Temp Chief Inspector and Ian was promoted to Chief Inspector at Harrogate.  Ian was such a kind man who never changed and was the same person with all the troops on the ground up to senior level.  He never let promotion change him, this is rare.  So friendly, always a smile on his face or laughing.  He was so incredibly respected by many.  He was firm but fair and was a perfect leader in the organisation.   I feel grateful that I worked alongside Ian in Hambleton and grateful that I was part of his life in the Police.  My thought and love to you Amanda and family xx
